❧ What event has had the biggest impact on your character? In what ways has it changed the way they see others and themselves?

Astarion worked as a Magistrate in Baldur's Gate, which is essentially a judge, and was beaten near to death by a few people who were angry about a judgement he made. Cazador found him half dead in the streets and turned him into a vampire spawn. Because he spent 200 years being subjected to every abuse you can imagine and then being forced to lure people to his master's home, Astarion developed a strong distaste for altruism and is generally very cynical regarding faith as well, because in his words "No one ever looked out for me. No one ever said a kind thing to me". The fact that he essentially prostituted himself out for Cazador has also given him a very low view of himself and his worth to others. When we first meet him in canon, he moves on from immediately holding the Player Character/Dark Urge Origin at knife point to flirting/seduction. The latter is how he learned to survive.
❧ What is your character’s biggest fear? How do they handle it?
Astarion's biggest fear is loss of power/security. He's already lost so much of his autonomy in the last two centuries, but he tries his best to handle it by covering his feelings beneath sarcasm/seduction. It isn't until later in Act 2 that he really starts opening up and by Act 3 he even calls Tav his "great protector".
❧ How does your character handle stressful situations?
Snark, sarcasm, humor. Depending on the situation he can get mad at the party, but ultimately anything involving Cazador will result in him losing his composure more often than not. He is very emotionally driven and doesn't do planning. He goes by his gut and that includes when under stress.
❧ If your character had to choose between saving a loved one and saving an entire city of innocents, who do they pick? (Yes, it’s the trolly problem and I don’t regret it)
He would definitely pick saving a loved one. He does not like altruism at all. More specifically, he would put his companions before himself. He may be selfish when it comes to most strangers, but he does care about his friends.
❧ Describe your character’s perfect day.
Basking in the sunshine, free of the restrictions of being a vampire/vampire spawn, maybe pick pocketing a few people on the street to buy something nice and spending time with his friends/found family.
